Food Bank of Alaska
About
Food Bank of Alaska is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger in Alaska by obtaining and distributing food to partner agencies, food pantries, shelters, and community programs throughout the state. Founded in 1979 by Anchorage church volunteers seeking to reduce food waste and improve food access, the organization now distributes millions of pounds of food annually through a network of nearly 200 partner organizations serving 69 communities across Alaska. Food Bank of Alaska relies on community volunteers and partnerships with food industry sources to salvage and redistribute food that would otherwise go to waste.
