The UC Berkeley Basic Needs Center is a comprehensive support hub located on the lower level of the MLK Jr. Student Union at 2495 Bancroft Way in Berkeley, California, serving all enrolled UC Berkeley students including undergraduate, graduate, international, and undocumented students. Launched as the first of its kind in the UC system and nationwide, the Center provides education, prevention, and emergency relief programs addressing food security, housing security, and financial stability through services including a food pantry, CalFresh application support, case management, and emergency financial assistance. Committed to fostering belonging and justice on campus, the Center combats structural drivers of basic needs insecurity while providing students with access to essential services for health, wellness, and overall well-being.
