Food Runners

Food Runners is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization in San Francisco founded in 1987 dedicated to alleviating hunger and preventing food waste. The organization picks up excess nutritious food from local businesses—including restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and corporate cafeterias—and delivers it directly to neighborhood nonprofits, shelters, and food programs serving those in need throughout the city. Food Runners delivers over 17 tons of food weekly, providing food for thousands of meals, while remaining true to its grassroots mission of creating community connection between donors, volunteers, and recipients.
