San Leandro Community Food Pantry

The San Leandro Community Food Pantry is a volunteer-run nonprofit established in 2013 to address food insecurity in the community. Operating as a 501(c)(3) organization, the pantry collects surplus food from local grocery stores through a rescue program and partners with the Alameda County Food Bank to distribute nutritious food to low-income and homeless residents in San Leandro and surrounding areas. Since its founding, the pantry has grown significantly—from serving about 50 clients in 2013 to distributing over 400,000 pounds of food to more than 39,000 clients and family members by 2017.
