Claymont Community Center, Food Closet

Claymont Community Center's Food Closet provides emergency food assistance to adults and children in the Claymont and surrounding communities who are experiencing food insecurity. The nonprofit organization serves approximately 500 residents monthly and distributes three to four days' worth of fresh, healthy foods including produce, dairy, and protein from donations provided by community partners including Food Lion, Trader Joe's, and Wawa. The food closet also participates in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, offering monthly USDA food boxes to seniors over age 60.
