DC Central Kitchen

DC Central Kitchen is a nonprofit and social enterprise founded in 1989 that combats hunger and poverty through job training and food service. Operating from Southwest Washington, the organization transforms surplus food from area restaurants, hotels, and caterers into nutritious meals delivered daily to partner agencies including homeless shelters, rehabilitation clinics, and after-school programs, while providing culinary job training for individuals facing employment barriers. Beyond meal distribution, DC Central Kitchen serves scratch-cooked meals at 30 DC schools, operates fresh produce access programs at corner stores, and runs fast-casual cafes throughout the District.
