DC Central Kitchen

DC Central Kitchen is a nonprofit and social enterprise founded in 1989 that combats hunger and poverty through job training and meal preparation. The organization provides hands-on culinary training to adults facing employment barriers while simultaneously preparing and delivering nutritious meals to shelters, nonprofits, schools, and other community organizations throughout Washington, DC and the surrounding region. Their work includes farm-to-school meal programs, the Healthy Corners initiative to increase healthy food access in underserved neighborhoods, and fast-casual cafes that provide both training and employment opportunities.
