Food Works

Food Works is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a sustainable food economy in Southern Illinois, based in Carbondale. Through farmer training and consumer education, the organization promotes long-term farming networks across the region’s 23 counties that create healthy soils, healthy food, and healthy communities. Food Works operates initiatives including a Mobile Farmers Market that sells seasonal produce, grass-fed meat, dairy, eggs, and small-batch goods from over 25 local farms sourced within 100 miles of Carbondale.
