Food Works

Food Works is a non-profit organization based in Carbondale, Illinois, dedicated to creating a sustainable food economy in Southern Illinois. The organization operates multiple community initiatives including the Mobile Farmers Market, which sources seasonal produce and locally-grown goods from over 25 farms within 100 miles of Carbondale, and the Food Works Veggie RX Program, which provides weekly boxes of fresh, locally-sourced food to lower-income households. Through farmer training and consumer education, Food Works promotes long-term farming networks and works to improve food accessibility across the 23-county Southern Illinois region.
