Frieda’s Place (Soup Kitchen)
About
Frieda's Place is a nonprofit soup kitchen in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood that has served the South Side community since 1993 under the leadership of founder Frieda Holley. The organization provides warm meals, packed lunches, groceries, clothing, and personal hygiene supplies to individuals and families in need, supported by volunteers from Chicago HOPES for Kids, church congregations, and the Su Casa Catholic Worker Community. In addition to meals, Frieda's Place offers seasonal resources and operates a community garden where children and volunteers can learn about growing food for the neighborhood.
