Pacific Garden Mission

Pacific Garden Mission, located at 1458 South Canal Street in Chicago’s Near West Side, is the oldest continuously operating rescue mission in the United States, founded in 1877 by Colonel George Clarke and his wife, Sarah. The nonprofit organization provides food, shelter, clothing, and medical and dental care to homeless men, women, and children year-round, operating 24 hours a day, along with spiritual programs designed to help people overcome addiction and experience transformation. Beyond direct services, Pacific Garden Mission produces the award-winning radio drama series “Unshackled!” and maintains an active broadcast presence on television and YouTube, extending its mission nationally and internationally.
