Resource Center Of Chicago – Food Distribution Center
About
Resource Center is a nonprofit environmental organization founded in 1975 that has been a pioneer in resource recovery and sustainability initiatives throughout Chicago. Located at 222 E. 135th Place, the organization operates a Perishable Food Recovery program that retrieves surplus produce and healthy, unsold food from grocery stores, farmers markets, restaurants, and caterers, then redistributes it to food pantries and shelters across the city. In addition to food recovery, Resource Center manages comprehensive recycling programs, operates City Farm for urban food production, and runs a Creative Reuse Warehouse, all designed to address community needs while promoting environmental sustainability and economic revitalization.
