UI Health Pilsen Food Pantry
About
The UI Health Pilsen Food Pantry is a community food pantry founded in January 2018 by University of Illinois family physician Evelyn Figueroa, MD, and her family to address food insecurity in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. The pantry operates as an open-access facility serving all residents in need, regardless of whether they are patients at UI Health, and has distributed millions of pounds of food to thousands of clients since its opening. The pantry is operated by the Figueroa Wu Family Foundation, an anti-poverty organization created in 2017 and committed to addressing social determinants of health.
