God’s Shelter of Love

God’s Shelter of Love is a nonprofit emergency shelter located at 929 North Union Street in Decatur, Illinois, serving as Macon County’s only emergency homeless shelter for women and children. Founded in 1991 by a group of Christians who recognized the need for emergency housing, the organization provides shelter, transitional housing, case management, and job skills training while also operating a retail thrift store called Blessingdales. The shelter accepts married couples, single women, and families, requiring residents to actively seek employment and ensuring children attend school, with no time limit on stays.
