Rooted For Good, formerly DeKalb County Community Gardens, is a nonprofit organization founded in 2012 that addresses food insecurity and hunger in northern Illinois. Located at 2280 Bethany Road in DeKalb, the organization has evolved from its initial focus on school and community gardens to offer comprehensive services including a mobile food pantry serving 100 to 250 households weekly, home food delivery, vocational training for adults with developmental disabilities, and educational programs reaching over 1,200 students. Since its founding, Rooted For Good has distributed over two million pounds of food to residents and expanded its reach across the state through multiple locations including the Rooted For Good Genoa food hub and the Rooted For Good Kirkland vocational farm.
