The Gail Borden Public Library District Main Library is a public library located at 270 N. Grove Avenue in Elgin, Illinois, serving a five-municipality district including Elgin, South Elgin, Bartlett, Streamwood, and Hoffman Estates. Established in 1892 through a donation by the Church brothers (stepsons of the namesake Gail Borden), the library has evolved into the third largest public library building in Illinois, featuring a Prairie School-inspired architecture with natural light and river views. The Main Library provides comprehensive services including computer labs, community meeting rooms, and extensive collections, alongside additional branch locations, operating as part of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System.
