Connections for the Homeless operates Hilda’s Place, a 30-bed shelter and drop-in service center located at 1458 Chicago Avenue in Evanston that provides emergency and interim housing, transitional shelter, and supportive services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The organization has been serving the Evanston community for three decades, offering case management, hygiene services, meals, clothing, and other essential support to help clients achieve self-sufficiency. In 2024, Connections for the Homeless received $1.8 million in state funding to rehabilitate Hilda’s Place with critical facility upgrades including plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and accessibility improvements.
