Village Pantry – Howatt Fire Station

Village Pantry – Howatt Fire Station is a food assistance program operated by the Village Pantry Coalition to serve Evergreen Park residents facing temporary emergency needs due to unemployment, illness, fire, or other hardships. Established in September 1981, the pantry has distributed food valued in excess of $620,000 to over 5,500 families and operates with senior volunteers who provide enough food for at least one week depending on family size and availability. The pantry operates in partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and serves all Evergreen Park residents in need, with no one turned away regardless of ability to pay.
