The Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) is a nonprofit organization located in Peoria, Illinois, that serves as the only agency in the State of Illinois authorized to provide combined services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse. Founded in 1975 as a rape crisis hotline, CFPA has grown into a comprehensive regional leader offering free and confidential services including emergency shelter, counseling, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, and abuse prevention education for pre-K through college students. Operating 24/7, the organization operates shelters in Peoria and Pekin, maintains offices in multiple county courthouses, and serves six central Illinois counties while maintaining deep community partnerships in violence prevention and intervention.
