Northern Illinois Food Bank – Neighborhood Market

The Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Neighborhood Market in Rockford is a grocery store-style food pantry located at 1397 Sandy Hollow Road in a former K-Mart building that opened in April 2025. The nonprofit organization provides free food to households experiencing food insecurity in the region and operates a 30,000 square foot facility designed to reduce the stigma of visiting a food pantry by offering a normalized shopping experience with order-ahead lockers for online pickups. The market is open Tuesdays from 1:00–6:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., serving approximately 17,000 people in the community.
