SMA Community Food Pantry
About
The Salem Community Pantry is a nonprofit organization founded on October 14, 2009, by a coalition of churches and community organizations dedicated to serving low-income residents in Salem, Illinois. Operating as a “choice pantry” where shoppers select their own groceries, the organization has distributed approximately 5,800-6,000 shopping carts of food annually and maintains an extensive meat section with 10,000-15,000 pounds on hand at any time. Funded entirely through community donations and grants, the pantry seeks volunteers and donations to support its mission of providing nutritious food with dignity and respect to those in need.
