St Charles Public Library

St. Charles Public Library is an award-winning public library serving the Fox River Valley community of St. Charles, Illinois, located 35 miles west of Chicago at One South Sixth Avenue. Originally established in 1891 as a subscription library, it became a public institution in 1908 with a Carnegie-funded building and has been continuously expanded and modernized, including significant additions in 1989 and 1995. The library maintains a collection of approximately 400,000 items and circulates over 1.6 million materials annually while serving more than half a million visits, offering extensive print and electronic collections, programs for all ages, study and meeting rooms, and has been recognized as one of the top libraries in the United States.
