Central Illinois Mosque & Islamic Center

The Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center (CIMIC) is a not-for-profit religious organization serving the Muslim community of Champaign and 16 other East Central Illinois counties. Founded in 1980 and located at 106 South Lincoln Avenue in Urbana, the organization began with property purchased in 1983 and has expanded significantly since its initial construction phase in 1988, now featuring a permanent prayer hall, multipurpose areas, classrooms, and office space. Affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America, CIMIC has become a model for Muslim organizations nationwide, with its 1997 constitution adopted by similar organizations across the country.
