UMMA Center

The UMMA Center (Urban Muslim Minority Alliance) is a nonprofit organization founded in June 2004 in downtown Waukegan, Illinois, dedicated to empowering underserved communities through education, social services, and economic development. The organization offers programs including GED training, English as a Second Language classes, computer courses, financial literacy seminars, job training through its CareerLink program, and a full-time food pantry serving low-income residents. Since its establishment, UMMA Center has partnered with local organizations including the Allendale Association, Lake County Park District, Northern Illinois Food Bank, United Way, and the College of Lake County to expand community development initiatives and provide comprehensive support to residents throughout Waukegan, North Chicago, and Zion.
