Ames Romero House

The Ames Romero House is a Catholic Worker nonprofit organization located at 702 Clark Avenue in Ames, Iowa, that provides hospitality and essential services to those experiencing poverty and homelessness. Operating as a grassroots community, the organization offers free meals, showers, laundry services, and companionship to guests on weekdays from 1pm-4pm and Sundays from 10:30am-4pm. Founded in 2020 by Matt Mitchell, the Romero House has grown from weekend meals to become a vital community resource supported by numerous volunteers, including students from Iowa State University, dedicated to serving those in need with dignity and compassion.
