Food at First

Food at First is a nonprofit organization in Ames, Iowa, founded in 2003 that provides free daily meals and a perishable food pantry called the Free Market to anyone experiencing hunger, with no questions asked. The organization serves hot meals seven days a week year-round at the First Christian Church in downtown Ames, sourcing nearly all food from donations and rescued surplus from local grocery stores, restaurants, and Iowa State University to reduce food waste while addressing food insecurity in the community.
