Mid-Iowa Community Action

Mid-Iowa Community Action, Inc. (MICA) is a private nonprofit organization established in 1965 serving children and families in central Iowa across five counties: Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, Story, and Tama. Located in Ames, the organization provides comprehensive services including early childhood and Head Start programs, family development services, health and dental clinics, WIC nutrition assistance, food pantries, and housing support to help alleviate poverty and strengthen communities. MICA operates Family Development Centers across its service region and collaborates with community partners to create opportunities for people in vulnerable situations to achieve stability, security, and success.
