Feed Iowa First

Founded in 2011 by Sonia Kendrick, Feed Iowa First is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, dedicated to addressing food insecurity in Linn County through urban farming and community partnerships. The organization grows and distributes over 45,000 pounds of fresh, culturally relevant produce annually to economically disadvantaged households, immigrant and refugee families, and other underserved communities through local food pantries, health clinics, and low-income housing partnerships. In addition to its direct food distribution efforts, Feed Iowa First operates the Grow Don’t Mow program and the Equitable Land Access initiative, which connects emerging and marginalized farmers with land, equipment, and training to support their agricultural enterprises.
