The Lucas County Inter-Church Council Food Pantry, located at 410 S. 7th Street in Chariton, Iowa, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1982 during the rural farm crisis and later expanded in the 1990s into its current Ministry Center. The pantry provides supplemental food assistance to Lucas County residents to combat food insecurity, with services available once per month and operating Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The organization partners with the Food Bank of Iowa and is operated by a coalition of Lucas County churches committed to serving their community’s basic food and nutritional needs.
