Central Iowa Shelter & Services

Since 1992, Central Iowa Shelter & Services has provided low-barrier emergency shelter, meals, and support services at no cost to adults experiencing homelessness in Des Moines. Located at 1420 Mulberry Street, this nonprofit organization operates as the largest homeless shelter in Iowa, serving approximately 2,000 individuals annually and offering comprehensive services including case management, medical clinics, food pantry, clothing closet, and job training to facilitate self-sufficiency.
