Des Moines Catholic Worker
About
Founded in 1976, the Des Moines Catholic Worker is a live-in intentional community and grassroots nonprofit dedicated to serving homeless and food-insecure individuals in Des Moines. Operating from the Bishop Dingman House at 1310 7th Street, they provide direct assistance including meals, clothing, showers, bedding, and conversation to those in need while engaging in social justice activities rooted in Catholic Worker tradition. Committed to a simple, nonviolent lifestyle of compassionate action, the organization also welcomes volunteers and live-in community members to support their mission of service to the poor.
