Staves Memorial United Methodist Church-Sandy McNamar Memorial Food Pantry

The Sandy McNamar Memorial Food Pantry, operated by Staves Memorial United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, provides free food assistance to anyone in the community who is food insecure. The pantry is open on the 1st Monday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the 2nd and last Saturday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., operating as a partner of the Food Bank of Iowa. The food pantry was established following the passing of Sandy McNamar, an active church member who requested that donations of food be brought to her funeral in lieu of flowers, resulting in over 2,000 pounds of food that helped launch this ongoing community ministry.
