Dubuque Regional Humane Society

The Dubuque Regional Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal resource center located at 4242 Chavenelle Rd in Dubuque, Iowa, dedicated to protecting and promoting the well-being of companion animals through adoption, humane education, community outreach, and cruelty prevention. Founded in 1901 as the Dubuque Benevolent and Humane Society, the organization operates as an open admission, no-kill shelter that provides medical and behavioral care for over 2,900 animals annually and helps place approximately 2,700 lost, abandoned, and neglected animals into loving homes each year. The DRHS operates its own veterinary clinic and serves as the public stray hold facility for the City of Dubuque, Jo Daviess County, and Dubuque County across three states.
