Free Lunch Program
About
The Free Lunch Program (FLP) is a nonprofit organization that has served the Iowa City community since January 1983, when it began as a response to address food insecurity among residents. Operating at 1105 S. Gilbert Court, the program serves free, nutritious meals Monday through Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. to anyone who visits, with no questions asked and no identification requirements. A United Way agency since 1989, the FLP is supported by over 900 volunteers from 36 serving teams, who prepare meals using donated food from local restaurants, grocery stores, and food rescue organizations alongside contributions from the HACAP Food Reservoir, embodying a commitment to providing dignified hospitality to all guests regardless of their circumstances.
