Jubilee UMC Resource Center, Home of LeChristopher’s Southern Cuisine

Jubilee UMC Resource Center, located at 1621 East 4th Street in Waterloo, Iowa, is home to LeChristopher’s Southern Cuisine, a restaurant-styled ministry that began in 2011 to combat loneliness through communal dining and soul food. Offered the second Sunday of each month (excluding winter months and May), the cuisine features fried chicken, catfish fillets, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and other traditional Southern dishes served alongside live jazz music for a $20 donation per plate. As a registered nonprofit United Methodist church, Jubilee UMC is committed to community engagement through education initiatives, full scholarships to Rust College, and the MLK Freedom Bus Tour, which has transported hundreds to historic civil rights locations.
