The Govans Community Fridge

The Govans Community Fridge, created by the York Road Initiative at Loyola University Maryland's Center for Community, Service, and Justice, opened in June 2022 to improve access to fresh food and reduce food waste. The fridge serves community residents and Loyola students by providing fresh produce, hygiene products, and water on a "take what you need, share what you can" basis. Operating 24/7 at the Govans Farmers Market, the fridge is stocked by neighbors, local organizations, and farmers market vendors, functioning as a community-driven effort to address food insecurity and promote food justice.
