The Campus Kitchen at UMass Boston
About
The Campus Kitchen at UMass Boston is a student-run nonprofit program that recycles surplus food from the university's dining halls to prepare and distribute nutritious meals to the surrounding community. As the first Campus Kitchen in Massachusetts and the first to combine college and high school students, the program operates as part of the larger Campus Kitchens Project network, preparing approximately 200 meals weekly during the academic year and 500 weekly during summer. Through partnerships with food service providers like Sodexo and organizations including Whole Foods and Food for Free, the Kitchen provides both nourishment and valuable service-learning opportunities for students while addressing food insecurity in Boston.
