Dorchester Community Fridge

The Dorchester Community Fridge is a grassroots mutual aid initiative founded in 2020 to address food insecurity in the Dorchester neighborhood, particularly after local grocery store closures. Operating on a take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-can model with no paperwork or gatekeeping, the fridge provides fresh, nutritious meals to over 50 people weekly through a network of volunteers who keep it stocked, clean, and sanitary. The initiative operates 24/7 as a community-driven effort rooted in neighbors helping neighbors.
