Mattapan Community Fridge

The Mattapan Community Fridge is a mutual aid effort founded by high school student Nikkia Jean-Charles during the pandemic to provide free food and household items to neighborhood residents facing food insecurity. Located on Blue Hill Avenue in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, the fridge operates on the principle of "take what you need, leave what you can" and is powered by the adjacent Café Juice Up, which donates the electricity to keep the fridge running.
