About
Campus Kitchen at University of Detroit Mercy is a student-powered food justice initiative that recovers surplus food and distributes it to low-income individuals in Detroit. Founded in 2011 as part of the Institute for Leadership and Service, the organization has donated nearly 93,000 pounds of food to community groups and engaged over 2,500 volunteers. Working with local partners to reduce hunger and food waste while supporting sustainable food systems, Campus Kitchen empowers Detroit Mercy students to lead community programs addressing food insecurity in their neighborhoods.
