ACBC Food Shelf
About
Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) Food Shelf, founded in 1971 by four women, has grown from a basement operation into a cornerstone nonprofit serving Anoka County residents and surrounding communities from their location at 2615 9th Ave N in Anoka. The organization provides emergency food, clothing, household items, and resources to families in need while maintaining dignity, serving approximately 2,100 household visits monthly and distributing over 1.4 million pounds of food annually. In addition to its food shelf market offering diverse nutritious options, ACBC operates a thrift store, provides delivery services to homebound individuals, and pioneered Minnesota’s first Commodity Supplemental Food Program partnership with the state health department for seniors.
