Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby
About
The Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby is one of Minnesota’s largest and oldest fishing contests, held annually on Maple Lake in Wright County since its founding by the Maple Lake Jaycees in 1975. Run by a volunteer committee of the Maple Lake Property Owners Association (a 501(c)3 nonprofit established in 1970), the derby attracts thousands of anglers who compete for hundreds of prizes, including an Ice Castle fish house for the 50th largest Northern Pike. Net proceeds from the event support the maintenance and preservation of Maple Lake and its natural environment.
