About

Founded in 2013, North Country Food Alliance is a 501(c)(3) worker-run nonprofit based in Minneapolis that strengthens food sovereignty in the Twin Cities by collecting surplus produce from local farms, grocers, and wholesalers and redistributing it free of charge to food shelves, community kitchens, and assisted living centers. The organization also builds community gardens, supports local farmers, coordinates volunteer gleaning efforts, and operates the Produce for the People program at St. Paul Farmers’ Markets. NCFA has distributed over 350,000 pounds of recovered food in recent years, partnering with numerous community organizations to ensure fresh, culturally appropriate food reaches vulnerable populations.
