Kanbe’s Markets

Kanbe’s Markets is a nonprofit organization located at 3119 Terrace Street in Kansas City, Missouri, dedicated to building a more inclusive food system by transforming food loss into food access. Founded in 2016, the organization tackles food insecurity in USDA-designated “food deserts” by redirecting fresh produce from retailers and wholesalers to underserved communities through its Healthy Corner Stores program, food pantries, and shelters. Kanbe’s Markets engages volunteers and community partners to sort and distribute produce while reducing food waste, having redirected over 1.7 million pounds of produce from landfills annually.
