The Kitchen, Inc. Emergency Shelter

The Kitchen, Inc. Emergency Shelter is a nonprofit organization located at 730 N Glenstone Avenue in Springfield, Missouri, providing temporary shelter for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The shelter originally opened in 2018 and operates 13 apartment-style units, each equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and separate children’s bedrooms, along with onsite resources including a laundry room, computer lab, playground, and case management services. Case managers assess residents’ needs and barriers to housing with the goal of transitioning them to permanent, affordable housing within 90 days, serving families, individuals, youth, seniors, and veterans across Greene, Christian, and Webster counties.
