Free German Reformed Church

The Free German Reformed Church in Sutton, Nebraska, originally known as the Free German Reformed Hope Church, was organized in 1908 by 72 families who withdrew from the Emmanuel Reformed Church. Founded as an independent congregation not affiliated with any church association until 1937, it later became the Hope Reformed Church of Sutton and joined the Reformed Church of the United States in 1945, serving the Volga German immigrant community that had settled in the area beginning in the late 1860s.
