Long Island Cares

Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank is Long Island's first food bank, founded in 1980 by singer-songwriter Harry Chapin to combat hunger and food insecurity across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Hauppauge, Long Island Cares distributes over 13 million pounds of food and supplies annually to nearly 400 community partners through a network of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other hunger-relief programs, while also offering comprehensive services including job training, nutrition education, and emergency food assistance to individuals and families in need.
