Astoria Community Fridge

Astoria Community Fridge is a community-run initiative in Queens that provides free food to residents in need through a refrigerator stocked with donations from local restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, and community members. Part of a broader network of community fridges across New York City that emerged in early 2020 to address food insecurity and reduce food waste, the Astoria fridge operates on the principle that food is a human right and offers items including fresh produce, canned goods, and prepared meals to anyone who needs them.
