Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen
About
Mother Marianne's West Side Kitchen is a soup kitchen that serves hot meals and bag lunches to struggling families, individuals, the unemployed, and the homeless in Utica. Founded in 2008 and named after Saint Mother Marianne Cope, a Utica native who later devoted her life to caring for leprosy patients in Hawaii, the kitchen is sustained by volunteers and donations and partners with other agencies to provide informational programs and referrals for those in need. In addition to meal services, the kitchen operates the West Side Boutique offering free clothing, housewares, and hygiene products, and provides monthly health screenings and salon services to the community.
