Great Plains Food Bank is a nonprofit food bank based in Fargo, North Dakota, founded in 1983, serving as North Dakota’s only food bank. The organization recovers surplus food from corporate partners and distributes approximately 15 million pounds of food annually to 205 partner agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota, assisting over 165,000 individuals each year. The organization earned a 2013 Bush Prize for innovation through its Creating a Hunger Free North Dakota partnership and operates a backpack program that distributes over 100,000 meals annually to children in need.
